 AIM
For all GPRs to gain some experience of Out of Hours work.
OBJECTIVES
*  To be involved in the management of acutely unwell patients in a primary care setting.
*  To understand how out of hours Primary Care service can be organised.
*  To experience a range of consulting styles in out of hours centre, on home visits and using the telephone.
*  To have feedback from being observed consulting.
REGISTRARS
*  You will all do between 8 and 12 sessions in 6 months.
*  You will have the opportunity to observe supervising GPs consulting, for them to observe you and for you to see patients
along, but with the supervising GP available for immediate advice either face to face or by phone.
If you need to swap a session, please arrange that with one of your peers and let Nick Price, your Trainer and the person
you are doing the session with know.
*  You may need to arrange with your practice to finish in time to get to Eccleshill for the 1800hr weekday sessions.
*  Please take the equipment you usually use for home visits (drugs, note paper and prescription pads are provided by the
the co-op.
*  This a mandatory part of your training and is non negotiable.
SUPERVISING GPs
If you change one of these sessions or otherwise are unable/unwilling to supervise a GPR for one of these sessions, please
let me know (0797 061 3392 or drnikprice@aol.com )
*  As part of this pilot project we are keen for you to use a flexible approach to maximise GPRs experience of out of hours.
*  As such, they may see patients along, at Shipley Hospital or on home visits, but only if the GPR is comfortable with this, you
have enough knowledge of the GPR for you to feel confident in them and this is of educational advantage to them.
*  There are several sessions when both doctors working are happy to supervise.  Feel free to approach this flexibility and
swap the GPR between as feels appropriate.
*  However, you must be available at all times for immediate advice and to see any patients yourself if appropriate.  I suggest
that if they go on a visit whilst you are at Shipley Hospital, you give them a direct phone number for them to call you and
that you are prepared to join them to assess the patient jointly if needed.
*  Please check and sign all encounter forms.
*  Please let me know of any concerns, things that work well or do not work well.
Many thanks for your help in this.
Nick Price
GP Registrars are in red and abbreviated to make space. Where there is no grey shading, this indicates a session when the duty Dr has indicated they are happy
to supervise GPRs so you can use these to swap sessions if you need to. If you do this please inform Nick Price of the details
of the swap.
