The Bradford VTS Team

Bradford VTS has 5 programme directors and two administrators who work very closely together to help make the scheme work. We welcome feedback at any stage. If you are a trainee on our scheme please get to know Sofya, our programme administrator, who holds a wealth of information.

This page tells you a bit about our backgrounds. If you would like to know more about our areas of responsibility with respect to the GP training scheme, then click here.

PROGRAMME DIRECTOR

Maggie Eisner

  • I was a partner at Shipley Medical Practice from 1983, and a GP trainer there from 1985 until I retired in 2007.  My clinical interests include women’s health, maternity care, mental health and the provision of GP services for marginalised groups.  I became a Training Programme Director (then called Course Organiser) in 2000.  I do voluntary work with asylum seekers for the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture, preparing Medico Legal Reports to support asylum applications and appeals.

Outside work I enjoy time with my husband, a retired teacher, our 3 grandchildren and my 97 year old mother, also a retired doctor.  I also like hill walking, singing in a 7 woman acapella group, reading, writing in a Reflective Writing group, making cakes, growing vegetables and talking about how to make the world a better place.

Ramesh Mehay

  • Practice : Ashcroft Surgery, near Eccleshill Hospital; Tel 01274 637 076
  • I qualified from Leeds back in 1993 and thereafter did various SHO jobs all over the UK (including 3 years in Northern Ireland) before deciding to go into general practice and completing the GP training scheme in York (Stuart Calder and Jonathan Lloyd were still there!). Then I became a GP in Leeds (University area) before Nick Price enticed me into joining Ashcroft Surgery (where he was at) in Bradford. I have been there since 2002.

I became a Course Organiser (old term for TPD) back in 2001 - again, it was Nick who 'pulled' me in (we knew each other from the old MRCGP courses we used to run together at that time).

I am passionate about GP training and education, with a particular interest in Communication Skills. Clinically, I have an interest in Palliative Care.

I live in Headingley in Leeds with my partner. I love doing DIY stuff and lately have completely demolished and rebuilt my garden (building walls, decking and so on). I also like messing around with computer generated music and am a gadget freak - you name it, I've got it. One of my latest purchases is a robot vacuum cleaner which I adore! I also have a robotic cat (which doesn't lick its backside).

I'm planning to retire to Spain (yeah, I know - many years off yet), but am learning Spanish in preparation for that (and I'm pretty good when I'm in Spain AND drunk). My particular forte in Spanish is swear words - apparently I've mastered their pronunciation.
