OUT OF HOURS (OOH)
Don't forget to send an out of hours handover form:
for those patients whose deaths are imminent and expected

This provides specific information that will aid the decision to visit and/or how to manage OOH

It also satisfies the OOH GP that a death is expected and thus permit the safe removal to the undertakers and not the public mortuary. It also avoids unnecessary police involvement and thus family distress.

In addition it ensures the patient wishes (eg advanced directives) are shared appropriately.

Finally, it supports GPs working OOHs by providing details of other professionals involved.
