Ram's Go To Websites
my web-directory which I periodically visit when I’m free
I would strongly urge everyone to make a directory. In that way, in your spare time if you want to visit websites, you will do so with intention rather than just aimlessly wondering – which often is consuming, does not feel effective and makes you feel overwhelmed. I visit these sites now and then, when I have time, and it stops the “Oh I haven’t been on there for ages’ (and feeling guilty/inadequate/a failure). Do things with intention, so that they don’t eat up your free time.

- Monosnap – relatively inexpensive – but can add all wonderful arrows and annotations to both photos and videos. Can even pause and restart video recordings – good for pausing and capturing your thoughts. This is the only one of this list that can add annotations to VIDEO during recording. Snag-IT can do this now too.

AI VIDEO
YouTube
- AI INVIDEO – great for AI creation of videos – tell it what to create – then tell it the tweaks – https://ai.invideo.io/. It’s quite impressive. Bit slow to find videos though. And definately still take you an hour to create a 5 min clip.
- There is studio INVIDEO: https://studio.invideo.io/videos – you create the video from stock videos and templates
- And AI INVIDEO : https://ai.invideo.io/ – AI creates the video
- Also creates a table of contents eg for youtube!
- But the AI version clunky to use and not a lot of editing features – e.g. clipping of the video
- GLING.AI = https://www.gling.ai/ – good for longer videos, will take out bad cuts automatically, and umms and aarrghs. can change the text too! Impressive.

- PictoryAI: https://app.pictory.ai/login (the 1st best after Videnami)

IT - web design, wordpress, elementor, plugins & youtube
WEB DESIGN
Websites
- WordPress – this is what I use to create www.bradfordvts.co.uk along with an a plug in called Elementor Pro
- Framer AI – is great for those who want to use AI to create a website. Use the following AI script.
- You are a professional web designer. Design a [website type] website for [who]. Take into consideration their [context] and convey it with the design of the website. Website type = [Insert here] Who = [Insert here] Context = [Insert here]
- Hostinger provides an AI creation free service too – (Hostinger are a hosting company).
- Wix – use Wix if you have a simple website you want to create (rather than one with loads of uploads and downloads and complex pages). Great for information only websites. But once you’re with them, you’re tied in – because you cant transfer to other sites!
- Durable AI is another AI web designing site – quite good
- Figma AI is another great AI web designing tool. Lots of people are now moving away from WordPress to Figma or Wix!

HOSTING
Websites
- Kinsta hosting – https://kinsta.com/ . Is meant to be the best, but expensive! Great support. Use only if you have a very heavy well visited site. Otherwise unnecessarily expensive.
- Hostinger is also meant to be good, and not as expensive as Kinsta. It’s my preferred hosting company.
- Siteground is okay – middle of the road.
MISCELLANEOUS BITS & BOBS
Websites
- Google Tags – https://tagmanager.google.com/
- Google Analytics – https://analytics.google.com/
- Google Adsense – https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/adsense/start/
- Ezoic adsense – https://www.ezoic.com/ – for paid adverts.
- Google ads pays well but it has an annoying algorithm which thinks you’re playing the system when you are not and then bans you and your revenue for a month. Happens repeatedly!
GREAT PLUGINS
YouTube
Akismet Anti-spam – protect your site from Spam
Analytify – great for web usage stats – what are your users looking at? Where are they from?
Classic editor – if you don’t like Guttenberg and want to edit WordPress the old way like I do!
Disable WordPress Update Notifications – great for stopping those nuisance emails about and update
- Images – Free Assets Library – for copyright free images from Pixabay
- Images – Pexels – for copyright free images from Pexels
- iTheme security – for security
- List Category Posts allows you to list posts by category.
- m1.downloadlist – great for listing files (by their names) in your website storage folder
- Read Meter – Reading Time & Progress Bar for WordPress.
- Redirection – to redirect an older URL to a new one
- WiseChat Pro – add a simple chat facility for talking with others who are online on your website
- WP-Sweep: WP-Sweep allows you to clean up unused, orphaned and duplicated data in your WordPress. It cleans up revisions, auto drafts, unapproved comments, spam comments, trashed comments, orphan post meta
- Yoast SEO – search engine optimisation for your website. Also speeds up your website.
WOOCOMMERCE PLUG INS
YouTube
3 plugin extras that I really like (have to pay for)…
- WooCommerce Checkout Field Editor (by WooCommerce) – enables you to change the input tabs on the checkout form.
- WooCommerce One Page Checkout (by Automattic) – you will lose customers if there are lots of checkout pages. This extension simplifies everything to one page so the customer does not leave.
- WooCommerce Subscriptions (by WooCommerce)– the best plug in every – great for wanting recurring donations/contributions from your users or creating a recurring subscription payment for say a service.

Websites
- Brave – nice simple clean quick
- DuckDuck Go – no tracking of your information
- AVG Secure Browser – no tracking of your information

- Opera – another favourite – clean, doesnt track you
- SUPERHUMAN email management: info: https://superhuman.com
to login: https://mail.superhuman.com - CloudHQ Resize for Gmail (free) – enables you to resize the columns if you use Gmail online – something for some reason stupidly impossible to do with Google, yet essential for functioning.
- TICKTICK (my preferred to-do list app): https://ticktick.com/
- Arranging meetings with others: https://doodle.com/
- Dragon Naturally Speaking – EXPENSIVE (over expensive in my view) but is the best one out there!
- Mindjet Mindmanager – great for creating flow diagrams but in my view unnecessarily expensive.
- Whimsical – great flow chart and diagrams maker, super easy to use.
EQUIPMENT
YouTube
- CZUR scanners – https://www.czur.com/ – their scanners are amazing. Scan your documents to become paperfree and organised. Can also use their scanners to demonstrate things live by using them as a visual presenter tool (a bit like the old overhead projectors)
- Microphone – best is Blue Snowball
- Camera – Logitech Brio or CZUR’s Fancy S
- PC – Lenovo’s Tiny ThinkStation range are great – small and fast.
- Touch Screen – Dell

PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
YouTube
- Evernote – my preferred. Saves your database both in cloud and your computer meaning you can even work on it when no internet access. Also has great capture tool to get stuff into Evernote.
- Obsidian is my second best. Again, stores to your database on your local PC but if you go with Obsidian sync or simply place your database in Dropbox, you get an online version too!
- Notion – lots of people use Notion, but I don’t like it much. The heavier your database becomes – the slower it becomes.
- LogSeq – is a great alternative to Roam Research. Link a new created article to blocks of information already within your database.
- RoamResearch boasts that it can back and forward link to blocks of information rather than complete articles – but LogSeq and Obsidian can do this too. And Roam Research is expensive and it has been said on the net that their support team can have “attitude”!

- Remember, auction houses charge usually 15-20% commission to BOTH seller and buyer (e.g. they pay the seller the selling amount MINUS 20% and they ask the buyer to pay the selling amount PLUS 20% – which I personally think is crazy but something all auction houses have normalised!).
